Bible Interpretation
Summer Quarter 09

I shared some of my insights with a couple of guys, Charles and Chau, in the ministry at Bay-view Hunters Point.  I read them the passage I chose for my exegetical paper hoping that I might be able to gain something from their insight as, that would be helpful to me.  I explained to them that there’s a lot more in reading the bible just to be reading it, and not really getting anything out of it.  I gave them and overview on the The Three Step model of bible interpretation that includes understanding the original situation, discovering the principle of truth and applying the meaning of the Word to our lives.  The method used and the tools needed in studying the Bible.

In response I sense a willingness to learn from the both of them.  There were questions asked and I answered them the best way I knew how.  In closing I ended on this note (2 Tim 3:16-17).  We are to treasure the word of God in our hearts which is useful for every thing good and against everything bad that comes our way.  In order to stand strong we need to be fully equipped to serve our purpose in life for every good work.
